From the Principal
Our school has been providing quality local public education since 1855 and we are proud to be one of the oldest established schools in South Australia. At McLaren Flat Primary we combine contemporary teaching and learning with the traditional values of respect, honesty, resilience, pride and responsibility in an environment that is positive and welcoming.
McLaren Flat Primary has a wonderful sense of community and plays a key role in connecting families within our local area. We take pride in our endeavour to meet the learning and well-being needs of every one of our students through programs that meet learners at their own level and then work to enrich and extend them in ways that focus on powerful learning, creativity, collaboration and collective efficacy.
Our academic priorities include building learner capacity in mathematics: number; and literacy: reading comprehension, oral language and writing. These priorities are supported across the entire Australian Curriculum and specialist teaching in music, Japanese, science and physical education. We also focus our energy on building equally important human capacities for students in relation to leadership, collaborative skills and team work, flexible thinking, good citizenship, compassion, empathy and care for each other and our environment.
Our teachers demonstrate a commitment to professional learning, quality teaching and achieving growth and progress for every learner. Our staff are dedicated team players who support each other, our children and our families. We collectively share the accountability for the learning, wellbeing, engagement and participation of every student from Reception to Year 6.
At McLaren Flat Primary school we actively engage families in our learning community and recognise their crucial role in supporting great attendance and a shared commitment to learning and accountability. Our families are our community and our community is our greatest asset.
