From The Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members of McLaren Flat Primary School,
Welcome to the 2018 school year.
The staff and I look forward to joining you and your children in an enjoyable and successful learning journey at a school which has a strong tradition - providing quality community based education.
Each year presents us with many challenges and changes (changing staff, new students and new families) all who bring different experiences and qualities to add to the existing community which makes McLaren Flat Primary School 'A Great Place to Learn'.
Staff and students will need to prepare themselves to embrace the changes to learning that will come with the introduction, teaching and assessment of the New Australian Curriculum in all areas.
As a community we will need to build on to existing relationships and forge new ones as we travel the journey and work together to ensure we meet what I consider our obligation as adults - to allow our children to grow and learn so they become 'Valued, Contributing Members of the Community' capable of pursuing their dreams and reaching their potential.
Some key focuses for 2018:
Developing Powerful Learners
Continuing to Live & Understand the School Values
Doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do!Student feedback to improve teacher practice
Numeracy improvement & at school & partnership level
'Teaching Up' aiming high - presenting achievable challenge
Intervention Programs to support Literacy & Numeracy
Asking ourselves "How do we know?" How do we know as a school we are improving student learning? How do students know they are doing their best to improve their learning?
I look forward to meeting you, working with you and experiencing/enjoying the success of our students and school.
